It is so easy to dig deep into our historical roots to find relationships in the belief systems of the world. But how often do we find modern interpretations in today's techno-world? In the relatively young field of psychology, we find that even the psychological types fit into the Medicine Wheel. No I didn't do this connection myself, another author beat me to it and did such a fine job, I decided to draw my interpretation of her wheel and include it in my collection.
Early in my college experience, I learned about Maslow's Theory and it found its way into other coursework over time. In my final year at the community college, I made a connection between his theory and the Medicine Wheel. It is an interesting technical viewpoint that addresses human needs. During each year, the Multicultural Students in Unity of Lower Columbia College sponsors an International Festival. In May 2000, this festival enjoyed 10 years of entertainment and cultural awareness. And every year, many different cultures are represented in dance, song, and other entertainment, as well as informational and vending booths. Among them, representatives of the Baha'i Faith have been consistenly present. A multicultural organization itself, the Baha'i Faith promotes cultural unity and awareness among people of all colors. This wheel is presented as an international, intercultural viewpoint and encompasses the principles of all cultures and all belief systems. As we become perceptive to new ideas as our technology increases, may we also see connections between the Medicine Wheel and these new ideas. Some will boldly go where no one has gone before... and be challenged to see the connections as they arise. It is within us to continue our journey on this planet and even into space - IF we continue to hold sacred the truths which bind us together as a people. We should be a singlar race of humans inhabiting a single planet, whose many colors cultures make it unique. Unity among cultures does not need to include strife and wars. The inherent conflicts are meant to make us grow to understand on another.
