  • Walk in the woods in cold climates during this time of the year
    • Trees can be heard "popping" due to freezing, expansion of remaining sap
    • Very cold times coming; hard frosts begin happening
  • Elm has become rather scarce due to worldwide spread of Dutch Elm Disease
    • Shows wisdom as surviving elm trees were in isolated places
    • Almost as if they chose to be away from their own kind for survival

  • Many consider it a creature that hunts only at night
  • Also hunt in twilight and at dawn
  • Alert at night because of nighttime activity
  • Best hunting is at dusk
  • Moving away from the equinox, this becomes the active time for the owl
  • Difficult to spot, they are most often seen at dusk
  • A creature of feminine power - the power of moontime
  • Has very acute hearing
    • Large eyes cause many to think it sees well at night
      • Works much more from sound than sight
    • Ears are forward; dish-shaped feathers aid in hearing
  • Very wise creatures
    • Know when to stop, wait, listen, and watch before action
    • Know end results
    • That too much activity will bring great deal of harm to them
    • They are fragile; bones are virtually hollow

    • Like light in sky just after sun has set, it has clear, pale, etheral quality

    • A hard color to describe
    • Looks blue, then purple, then almost black
