3.5.1.1 Wolf - Spirit Messenger Who Leads, Who Guides (Wilson MW 106-107)
- Pathfinder and protector
    
 - Spirit messenger who leads, guides us in way we should go
    
 - If comes in vision quest, gives sense of direction in life
    
- Continues guidance throughout life
    
 - Blaze trail for others rather than create rut of another's trail
    
 - Reminds us that we are members of Great Spirit's family
    
 - Keeps us sensitive, aware of "mitakoye oyasin" (We are all related)
 
 
3.5.1.2 Stone Medicine:  Onyx (Wilson VFEM 16)
- A term applied to a banded marble, and also agate
    
 - From Greek word meaning fingernail
    
- Originally used to mean agate with sharply contrasting bands of color
 
     - Comes in colors of black and white, green and white, red and white, ...
    
- Brown and white is known as sardonyx
 
     - Onyx is strong and hard and takes a high polish
    
- Widely used in the carving of cameos and intaglios
 
     - Onyx people have gifts and talents
    
- Allow them to be able to see both sides of an argument or debate
        
 - Great intercessors, protecting people on both sides of the issue
        
 - Are pathfinders, and are able to bring both sides of issues together
        
- In such a way as to give everyone new concepts and ideas

- A pathfinder and protector
    
 - They are family oriented and hierarchal, dominant wolf taking complete control
    
 - Wolf people have the medicine power to lead us into new paths and discoveries
    
- Conceptually or otherwise
        
 - Will also protect us from the fundamentalist judgments
        
- That others would like to place upon us
 
         - Will come to your aid and take a dominant role in protecting you
        
- If you are under attack from others
 
         - Enjoy working within the framework of a group
