4.3.1.1 Color: Blue-Green (Wilson VFEM 11)
- Blue stone indicates possession or offer of intuitive gifts (Wilson VFEM 11)
- Green stone brings spirit powers of learning, growth development, creativity, responsibility and dependability
4.3.1.2 Medicine Stone: Turquoise (Wilson VFEM 18)
- One of the oldest stones used for adornment and protection
- Mined in Egypt at least 6,000 years BCE; colors rang from sky-blue to green
- Blue represents powers of the sky; green, powers of Earth Mother
- It has many powers
- Believed that anyone who wears it will never break any bones
- Used in horses' tails, bridles, and harnesses to assure horse will be even-footed
- Used in engagement rings, and in ceremonies of various kinds
- Navajos throw turquoise into a river in rain making ceremonies
- Will place a turquoise bead on the bow or arrow to assure arrow will hit target
- Turquoise people are well balanced
- Bringing together higher powers of sky with powers of earth
- Have many powers outside of the ordinary; have power to be healers
- Have much natural medicine, and are adept at mysteries of the universe
- Must remain well grounded or else may have difficulty returning from some realms
4.3.1.3 Animal Totem: Cougar (Wilson VFEM 23)
- The highest climbing of all the cat family, but at home on the ground
- Female is dominant hunter
- Cougar people can climb into the heights philosophically or spiritually
- But they are well grounded
- Some may "be so heavenly minded that they are no earthly good"
- Not so with cougar people
- They are well balanced and will bring a sense of balance to the group
- Females are best hunters in the search for truth
- A reason why more women than men in church
- When a male is on search for truth
- He will discover that he is far more successful if turns to feminine nature
- For guidance and strength on his search
- He can learn much from the women around him
- Likely to keep to themselves, but are aggressive & courageous, candid & sensitive
4.3.1.4 Plant Totem: Plantain (Wilson VFEM 45-46)
- A common herb, well-known healer; over 200 species which grow worldwide
- All leaves radiate from base
- Medicine powers:
- Entire plant used internally as well as externally to cool and soothe
- Also functions as healer
- A blood cleanser, helps alleviate pain, reverses effects of poisons
- Effective against stings and bites
- Used as tea, in bath, in compress; used to heal ulcers, kidney and bladder problems
- Plantain people prone to pain in feet or legs
- Prevent by soaking leaves in vinegar, dry them overnight
- Then place on feet before putting on shoes
- Have ability to help others to remain well grounded; they are healers
